Buckingham Hotel - Buxton (Derbyshire)

The hotel is clean, with attentive personal, and offers brilliant location adjacent to the centre as well as the Pavilion Gardens. The rooms are attractive and spotless with radiators and comfortable bed plus pictures of Dustin Hoffman.

Cheap hotel in a good area not far from center and all amenities, most attractions in Peak District and restaurants and shops.

Attentive staff interactions.

I liked the sense of humour to be found everywhere in the hotel, the very friendly staff, and the complete atmosphere of this house.

Ideally situated near Buxton's main attractions, this is an extremely friendly hotel with a variety of quirky features. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble.

Although perfectly comfortable, some of the rooms could do with a fresh lick of paint.

Good location - showbiz pictures were a good theme

We were looking for a last minute hotel for the Easter weekend in Buxton. The Buckingham was the only vacancy we could find. The website description of the hotel was not encouraging but we decided to give it a go. Well we had a brilliant weekend, the hotel is a bit shabby but the food, staff and service were excellent. In fact as they say "it was just like they say on the tin" , and we will go again.

The location is excellent and we found that all the parts of Buxton which we wished to visit were within easy walking distance. Staff were very accommodating and the cask ales went down well. Food was good, both at breakfast (never seen so many jams / marmalades!) and evening.

When we arrived, the room smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke. We opened the window and on our way out, we informed the receptionist, who was very surprised. On our return, the smell had gone, but, as non smokers, in a no smoking establishment, we didn't expect this.
